Amber alert issued for severe lightening

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center has issued an AMBER alert for severe lightening for the period until 09.30 p.m. today (06).

The advisory states that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightening are likely to occur at several places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and Western provinces.

The general public is requested to seek shelter preferably indoors and avoid using electric appliances during thunderstorms.
