The country has been struggling with Covid-19 for one-and-a-half years and the people have the knowledge on preventing Covid-19 but it seems that they do not practise what they know. This is a huge risk, Health Promotion Bureau (HPB) Director Dr. Ranjith Batuwanthudawa said.

He told the media at the HPB in Colombo on Friday that by now people know very well how to prevent Covid-19 but it seems that their behaviour has not changed despite the knowledge they gained during the past one-and-a-half years on Covid-19.

Dr. Batuwanthudawa said that at least now people should rectify their faults and follow all the basic health guidelines, all the time, no matter whether they are vaccinated or not. “It is the only way to prevent Covid-19. We have our past experiences and we should practise what we already know.”

The Government or the health authorities do not vaccinate anyone by force. Vaccination is the only way to control and prevent this global pandemic and that is why the Government and the health authorities call upon the people to get themselves vaccinated as soon as possible, he said.
