Antonians bow out with honours over Trinity

The 103rd Battle of the Blues cricket match in Kandy between Trinity College and St. Anthony’s College ended in a stalemate draw at the Asgiriya stadium yesterday.

The Antonians however were awarded the trophy after making a first innings score of 288 for 9 declared and bowling out Trinity for 208 from an overnight score of 21 for no loss as Ranuda Somaratne kept up his good batting form making a top score of 50.

Trinity were set with a 185 target after the Antonians declared at 104 for 5 and ended the match making 49 for 1.

Scores:

St. Anthony’s 288 for 9 declared (Mohamed Aaqil 86, Lahiru Abeysinghe 73, Chandimal Herath 61, Tharana Wimaladharma 3 for 67, T Ranatunga 3 for 68) and 104 for 5 declared (Chandimal Herath 54 not out)

Trinity 208 (Ranuda Somaratne 50, Pawan Pathiraja 25, Tharana Wimaladharma 24, Manula Kularatne 23, Traveen Mathews 5 for 70) and 49 for 1 (Pawan Pathiraja 23 not out)
