Boxing coaches residential camp in Kandy

A two day school boxing coaches residential coaching program will take place over here in Kandy in Kundasale.

According to the secretary of the Sri Lanka Schools Boxing Association T.B. Jamitha Gayan Bandara over 100 will participate.

He said all arrangements have been finalized for the event to be held on August 18 and 19.

The coaching course advisor will be well known boxing coach Wasantha Kumara, an Olympic coach who has coached Seevali MMV, Ratnapura,

He is best known for producing a boxer to represent Sri Lanka at the Olympics after more than four decades in Anuruddha Ratnayake at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Wasantha Kumara is a 3-star AIBA qualified coach who followed an Advance Management course conducted by the IOC (International Olympic Committee) during his tenure as Sri Lanka coach.

The Technical advisor will be Rukman Wekadapola a 3-star international referee and judge who has officiated at man boxing meets as a leading referee while the coaching course coordinators are T.B. Jamitha Gayan Bandara and Samantha Weerasinghe the ex- secretary.
