Vesak is colourful and is the biggest festival for Buddhists. It is celebrated in May. We commemorate three important events of Gauthama Buddha’s life during Vesak Poya.
Buddhists observe Atasil. They make Vesak lanterns and decorate their homes.
Buddhists get involved in charity work and people erect colourful pandals depicting Jathaka tales.
Food is given free at dansalas. Vesak is a great festival.
