Hurdles record at Nationals

One new Sri Lanka record was established in the 110m hurdles event at the 101st National athletic championship held at the Sugathadasa Stadium yesterday.

The record was set by Janidu Lakvijaya of the Army who finished the race in 13.77 seconds. The previous record was also set by him which was 13.82 seconds.

A new meet record was also set in the 400 metres for men. Kalinga Kumarage completed the race in 45.07 seconds.

Previously, Kishore Kumar Jena of India established a new meet record in the javelin throw for men. He hurled the javelin to a distance of 84.38 metres.

In second place was Shivapal Singh also of India with a distance of 77.36 metres.

Out of today’s events there will be the 4x400m mixed relay event. It will be interesting to see who will win the event to be contested between Sri Lanka, India and the Maldives.
