One of the largest industrial exhibitions in the history of the Northern Province, ‘The Industry 2023 Jaffna Edition,’ concluded at the Jaffna Cultural Centre recently.
The Industrial Development Board of Ceylon, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry, organised the inaugural industry exhibition under the ‘Getup Startup for a Wealthy Nation’ program.
The exhibition included over 300 booths covering 20 different industries and there was a huge participation of prominent industrialists from the Northern Province, and from other provinces, who make export-oriented products.”
Minister of Industries and Plantation Industries, Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, Minister of Fisheries, Douglas Devananda, State Minister for Small and Medium Enterprise Development, Prasanna Ranaweera, and State Minister for Primary Industries, Chamara Sampath Dasanayake were present at the opening ceremony.
The exhibition was held to assist the people of the Northern Province by identifying local industries with the potential and providing them with the technical knowledge to promote an export-oriented production economy and establish new industries, a spokesman for the organisers said.
The closing ceremony of the exhibition was chaired by Chairman of the Industrial Development Board, Dr. Saranga Alahapperuma.
