The Sunday Observer was bombarded with calls from lay followers of cricket on Friday morning demanding to know how a team with the identical score of 252 was declared the winner or finished as the winning team after the team batting first also made or defended the same score of 252.
In this case it was Sri Lanka making 252 for 8 in reply to Pakistan’s total of 252 for 7 in an Asia Cup match on Thursday.
Unlike the common followers, an ‘expert’ told the Sunday Observer that Sri Lanka won on what he said was the DLS.
Some lay followers were left scratching their heads unable to figure out the logic of the DLS method brought in to decide on rain affected matches and being told there is a difference between 252 and 252.
