An Injunction order was yesterday issued by the Colombo District Court preventing the implementation of the letter issued by SLFP Leader, former President Maithripala Sirisena to its General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara, which mentioned that a disciplinary inquiry would be conducted against him and called for explanations from him.
The injunction order was issued by Colombo Chief District Court Judge Sandun Withana, after considering a case filed by MP Dayasiri Jayasekara against SLFP Leader Former President Maithripala Sirisena and its Deputy Secretary Sarath Ekanayake.
In the letter, MP Jayasekara was informed that if no excuses are given within fourteen days for the five charges presented in the relevant letter, he will be found guilty of those charges and further action will be taken.
The letter was issued by accusing him for depositing money without the approval of the Party’s “Central Committee” during the submission of nominations for the 2023 Local Government elections, giving the address of the party office to the United People’s Freedom Alliance without approval, scolding the organisers of the Freedom Party with harsh words and not fulfilling the responsibilities while acting as the Party Secretary and criticising the leadership.
After considering the facts, the Colombo Chief District Judge issued the relevant injunction order until October 5 and issued interim injunction notices to the defendants to appear in Court on that day.
The case will be taken up again on October 5.
