The Minuwangoda Zonal Education Director’s office said that due to a group of students studying in grades six and seven of the Minuwangoda Burullapitiya Maha Vidyalaya suffering from a skin allergy, these students were advised day before yesterday (21) not to attend school yesterday (22).
About nine students who had come to school on Thursday (21) had developed this skin allergy. Their skin had started itching and they had developed hives, a senior officer of the Zonal Education Director’s office said. Minuwangoda Zonal Education Director Vajira Perera said that since it could not be specified whether it was an infectious ailment of not, they advised the students of grades six and seven not to attend school yesterday considering the safety of the other students of the school.
The Director said that subsequent to considering the allergy affecting students of grades 6 and 7 arrangements will be made to get them to attend school on Monday September 25. A senior officer of the Minuwangoda Health Medical Officer’s office said that the condition of the students were not serious.
