India’s largest airline, IndiGo will launch a new service between Hyderabad in the Indian State of Telangana and Colombo.
The airline, which already serves Colombo from Bengaluru, Karnataka (once daily) and Chennai, Tamil Nadu (twice daily), will compete with SriLankan Airlines on the Hyderabad route.
IndiGo said that it will start flying between Hyderabad and Colombo from November 2. The airline will be the first from India to operate this two-hour route. So far, only SriLankan Airlines has deployed its Airbus aircraft between the two destinations.
Head of Global Sales at IndiGo, Vinay Malhotra said, “We are delighted to introduce six weekly direct flights between Hyderabad and Colombo. As the global travel landscape experiences remarkable growth, our focus remains on delivering exceptional services and meeting the evolving needs of customers worldwide.
“This would serve as a catalyst for further enhancing business ties, trade and tourism between India and Sri Lanka. The introduction of these flights will not only enhance connectivity but also provide travellers with greater flexibility and convenience,” he said.
The flight will operate daily except Wednesday.
