For the first time in the history of the Asian Games, Esports have been included as a discipline as an official medal event and medals won by each country will enable them to contribute to the overall medals tally.
Sri Lanka will contest the event with players in the mould of Chamuditha Watshan, Rizny ‘Razor’ Azmy, Ramesh ‘JIMMY’ Kavindu, Riham ‘Tauter’ Ramzi and Tharindu ‘Mamatha’ Induwara.
The Sri Lanka Esports Association was established in 2010 to serve as the governing body for esports in Sri Lanka.
“With Esports being a growing sport in Sri Lanka, I am excited to see the athletes getting the opportunity to represent the country and compete for medals at the Asian Games this year. With the support of the esports community, we wish our team the very best to not just win but to inspire the next generation of esports athletes of the country,” said Raveen Wijeyatilake president of Sri Lanka Esports Association.
