A sports organization known as Sri Lanka Triathlon has sought the intervention of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to probe an alleged case where a candidate at an election of the Olympic Council of Asia had offered 100 air tickets to the Sri Lanka National Olympic Committee for the Asian Games in return for its vote.
The call for a probe was made by the General Secretary of Sri Lanka Triathlon, Samantha Wickremasinghe in a letter sent to the chairman of the Ethics Committee of the IOC dated August 29.
“I respectfully urge the IOC Ethics Committee to launch a thorough and impartial investigation into the matter. It is imperative that integrity of the OCA presidential election is preserved and any breaches of ethics guidelines are addressed appropriately,” Wickremasinghe has conveyed to the IOC in his letter.
