The rugby Sevens team from Sri Lanka which will play not under the Lion Flag but under the banner of the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) is looking forward to finish among the top three teams at the 19th Asian Games which began in Hangzhou, China yesterday.
This mood among the players was revealed by the manager of the OCA team Nalin de Silva.
With rugby being a closely followed game and maintaining a high standard the players will be very much eager to finish on top while competing among the Asian countries.
Tharinda Ratwatte, Adeesha Weeratunga, Chathura Seneviratne, Anjala Hettiarachchi, Aakash Madushanka, Dinupa Seneviratne, Gemunu Cheitiya, Dharshana Dabare, Srinath Sooriyabandara, Ramesh Fernando,Heshan Jansen and Adam Gauder make up the playing party.
“Dushanth Lewke who is an experienced coach at club and schools level has done exceptionally well to raise the standard of the players’ skills and spirits,” said De Silva. (TBR)
