Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya yesterday ordered the expert panel to release the remains of Janashakthi Group director Dinesh Schaffter to his family members after the experts informed the Court that the examinations of his body have been completed.

A five-member panel of medical experts was designated by the Court to conduct a new post-mortem examination in order to determine whether his demise was a case of murder or suicide.

President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris who appeared for Shafter’s father, said that there was no indication of cyanide in the report on the vomit smeared on the deceased’s clothes by the Government Analyst’s Department .

However, Judicial Medical Officer Ruhul Haq had cited that the death had caused by ingestion of cyanide. The President’s Counsel requested the court to bring this matter to the notice of the expert committee.
