Tourist arrivals cross 1m mark

The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau celebrated World Tourism Day on September 27 at the arrival terminal of the BIA, Katunayake.

Officials of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau served local sweetmeats, tea and presented souvenirs to all the foreign tourists who arrived at the Airport on that day.

On September 26 Sri Lanka also celebrated the arrival of the one millionth tourist to Sri Lanka for this year. The millionth tourist was Russian national Alex Mazkov who was accompanied by his wife and their two small children.

The number of tourist arrivals in the country passed the one million mark for the first time since 2019 and the forecast for 2023 is 1.55 million arrivals.
