Genevieve International Academy (GIA) the training centre of NailSpa (Pvt) Ltd signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Vocational Training Authority to bridge the skills gap in the manicure sector and improve employability in the nail care and makeup professions in Sri Lanka.
The signing of the MoU took place at the National Vocational Training Authority, Narahenpita recently.
Chairman (acting) /CEO of NVTA, S.K. Rajapaksha, senior officers including Deputy Chairman Chatura De Silva while representing GIA were Managing Director Mrs. Nilanthi Genevieve Weerasinghe, Director, Training and Marketing, Nimesha S. Jayasooriya and Deputy General Manager Thushanthi N. Sumanaweera were present. The MoU opens the door for the VTA to conduct courses in nail care and semi-permanent makeup courses in collaboration with GIA. Nail care and beauty care is a promising sector for those who are seeking jobs overseas as well as in urban areas.
Located in Park Road, Colombo 5, Genevieve International Academy conducts nail technology and semi-permanent makeup courses for small groups. GIA provides Cuccio USA certification for their students and Genevieve International Academy certificates are also provided for semi-permanent makeup courses.
NailSpa founded and fully owned by Ms. Weerasinghe, is a nail salon network built to upscale nail care, providing professional nail services.
GIA and NailSpa have an internship program for GIA students to gain experience in the industry.
