We are living in a very challenging era. Based on those challenges, we are now shouldering the program of building a prosperous country for the children of this country to inherit a beautiful childhood, President Ranil Wickremesinghe said in a message issued to mark the World Children’s and Elders’ Day which falls today (Oct 1).
The President’s message: “The current generation will also be the pilots in the process of creating a developed Sri Lanka by 2048. Accordingly, we have already taken steps to carry out many reforms in the education system to mould the children as productive citizens with balanced personalities who can take on challenges by equipping them with new technological knowledge and abilities.
I believe that all the children of the country will dedicate themselves to acquire the necessary knowledge by engaging in their education properly today to become proud participants in the developed Sri Lanka.
As Sri Lankan citizens, we also celebrate the International Elders Day by reflecting on the valuable virtues and morals that have been preserved throughout time immemorial via the elders of the world.
