Kodithuwakku leads Trinity at rugby

Anuhas Kodithuwakku has been named the captain of the Trinity College rugby team for the 2024 season. He is into his fourth year of play and is an intelligent back division player who can fit in as fly half, center and fullback and he is also a good goal kicker.

This young player started his rugby career at junior level and has now successfully graduated to senior level. He is also a good athlete. He will be blessed with two vice captains in Thisanga Dissanayake and Ravin Ilangaratne.

The Trinitians are expected to start their practices this month with over 40 players on the list.

In the coming season too, coaching will be headed by the well experienced former Sri Lanka rugby captain Fazil Marija.

Stubbs Shield for Sylvestrians

St. Sylvester’s College won the 106th Stubbs Shield All Island Schools Boxing Championship for the 17th time. The meet featured a total of over 21 weight categories and the numbers of boxers were over 300 in this meet held at the Royal College MAS Arena organized by the Schools Boxing Association of Sri Lanka.

NLK heads Scrummage again

NLK Ratnayake one of the top rugby players of Trinity College once again took over the Chairmanship of the Old Trinitians Rugby Scrummage at the AGM held at Longden Place. Principal Rev. Fr. Araliya Jayasundra who gives a big hand for rugby is the patron. The others are Vice Chairmen – BNR Fernando, Murad Ramzeen, Secretary – Dinushka Jayatissa, Treasurer – Asanka Ranhotty. The Committee is blessed with SW Chang, Duminda Silva, Janindha Dunuwila, Madushanka Ratnatunga, Nishantha Wickramage, Rashen Bandaranayake, Dinuka Baskaran, Sustika Enoch, Isuru Rangala and Umesh Samarasekara.

Rajans get a new coach

A top class cricket coach Senaka Dissanayake, has gone back to his old school Dharmaraja College as coach.

He coached the juniors and seniors from 2005 to 2017, Azhar College Akurana from 2018 to 2020 and also overseas. In the past few years he was the coach of Vidyartha College.
