Private Bus Owners’ Association President Gemunu Wijeratne said that even though a litre of diesel was increased by Rs. 10, it will not be sufficient to revise bus fares.

Wijeratne said that the increase in diesel prices will definitely continue and after the next revision, bus fares may have to be revised.

Meanwhile, All Ceylon Private Bus Owners’ Association General Secretary Anjana Priyanjith said that the Government should allow private bus fares to be increased in line with the increase in diesel prices.

He said that bus fares should be increased by at least five percent.Priyanjith said that in the last bus fare revision, the minimum bus fare was not raised in consideration of passengers and this time the minimum fare should be revised.
