A dialogue between the construction industries of Sri Lanka and the Maldives has been established to develop the construction industry of Sri Lanka and take it to the international level.
President of Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) Dr. Rohan Karunaratne said that this dialogue was established during a discussion held between the leaders of the construction industry in the Maldives and the leaders of the CIOB in Sri Lanka during the “Maldives Living Expo 2023” held in the Maldives recently.
Based on the Sri Lankan Construction Industry Roadmap made by Dr. Karunaratne, the collaboration between Sri Lankan and the Maldivian construction industries hopefully initiated internationally driven growth, innovation and networking to further the Sri Lankan Construction Industry as a resilient giant within the Sri Lankan economy.
The “Maldives Living Expo 2023” held recently saw several Sri Lankan companies including Advantis, Hayleys Fentons, SF, ICC, ELS Group International Construction Consortium (Pvt.) Ltd (ICC), and SAW Engineering participating.
This event helped to promote the Sri Lankan economy on a global stage, while increasing foreign exchange inflows into the country.
Selected leaders from the Maldivian Construction Industry along with CIOB as the forum’s strategic partner, collaborated via panel discussions and critical dialogue on the topics: Housing; Luxury Infrastructure and Specialist Projects; Construction Health and Safety; Material sourcing and supply; and Regulation.
At a later date, CIOB met with the Executive Team of URBANCO – an innovative organisation launched by Anura Vithanage at the ELS Branch in the Maldives to further strengthen international ties and cross-industry awareness.
