The Colombo bourse offered negative returns during the first week of this month losing 348 points and closing below the psychological mark of 11,000.
This is the lowest the All-Share Price Index has lost since July 2023. The poor returns and the negative sentiment surrounding the equities can be largely attributable to the delay in obtaining the second tranche of the IMF EFF agreement and the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming National Budget 2024, which is expected to be unveiled on November 13.
