Ajra Azhar has been granted a prestigious full scholarship by the Scholarship Committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) Rule of Law Forum. She is the first Sri Lankan selected as a scholarship winner.
The scholarship acknowledges her exceptional contributions and positions her as a representative of Sri Lanka at the IBA’s Annual Conference to be held in Paris, France from October 29 to November 3.
Azhar’s journey through the realm of law has been nothing short of impressive. As the valedictorian of her batch, she attained her Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from the University of Jaffna. Her thirst for knowledge and pursuit of excellence led her to further her education, culminating in the completion of her Master of Human Rights and Democratisation with distinction at the University of Colombo.
She shared her expertise with the next generation of legal minds. A visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Colombo, and an Assistant Lecturer at the University of Jaffna, Azhar imparted her knowledge and nurtured budding legal talents.
With a career spanning over five years, Azhar has exhibited her versatility, keen attention to detail, and dedication in various capacities. Her areas of expertise encompass academia, legal research, project management, and program coordination.
