President Wickremesinghe outlined a forward-looking strategy, adding that from 2025, arrangements must be in place to conduct the examinations without imposing undue stress on the students.
The President has instructed the Minister of Education to set up the framework through parliamentary legislation to ensure that examinations will be held on time.
The President highlighted the importance of announcing the examination dates well in advance. This will help facilitate the students to prepare for the exams. The President said that by law, neither the political authorities nor any other entity will have the authority to alter the examination dates after they are set.
This directive follows pleas from education experts on the adverse consequences of postponing examinations, including implications for foreign university scholarships and exceeding age limits.
