Hemamali Girls box well

Hemamali Girls College from Kandy won second place in the girls meet at the Stubbs Shield boxing championship last week.
Nethmi Hearth and NKKL Siriwardene were Gold medal winners while Nethmi also won the best boxer’s award.

In April this year they also did well to win the overall championship at the Central Provincial Schools girls boxing championship and they are coached by Jamitha Bandara.

St. Sylvester’s Boxing Club wins

St. Sylvester’s College Boxing Club won the 2023 boys boxing meet which was held from October 1 to 5 at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium in Colombo.

The meet presented top class boxing and accordingly the winners were awarded the Lt. Gen. Jagath Jayasooriya Trophy. They are coached by Chief Inspector Bandula Vithana Gamage and Jamitha Bandara. The medallists at this youth meet were M. Danushka, M. Saheed, KGSK Heshan, JMT Deeshan, WGSN Hemachandra and S. Niroshan.

KDCA cricket

The first game in the Kandy District Cricket Association – Qualifying tournament was played yesterday at Prisons ground Pallekelle between Titans SC and New Wave CC and today Sunday Assex SC take on Honest Star SC at the same venue.
