Probe reports on cricket and football handed over for Special Investigation

The Special Investigation Report on Sri Lanka Cricket and the special audit report issued by the National Audit Office along with the investigation report on the Sri Lanka Football Federation and the internal audit report conducted by the Ministry of Sports were handed over to the Special Investigation Unit for Sports Offenses, the Ministry of Sports said in a media statement on Wednesday.

The Special Investigative Report was compiled in April by a five member committee headed by retired Supreme Court Judge Kusala Sarojani Weerawardena in connection with financial misdeeds reported to have taken place during the T20 World Cup in Australia last October and November while the Special Audit Report was compiled by the National Audit Office in September this year according to the Sports Ministry media statement.

The statement further said the Special Investigation Report on the Sri Lanka Football Federation and the audit report conducted by the internal audit division of the Ministry of Sports regarding fraud and corruption was compiled in April this year.

The statement further said the Sports Ministry Secretary KM Mahesan called on the Director of the Special Investigation Unit for Sports Offenses Deputy Inspector General of Police WAJH Fonseka and handed over the Reports.
