The Sri Lanka-Italy Business Council (SLITBC) conducted its 24th Annual General Meeting recently.
The Ambassador of Italy in Sri Lanka and Patron of the Council, Damiano Francovigh and Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy, Dr. Francesco Perale were present. Commending the efforts of the SLITBC in promoting bilateral trade and investment between Italy and Sri Lanka, Ambassador Francovigh highlighted the good results of bilateral trade in 2022, whose total figure was over Euro 800 million with a healthy surplus for Sri Lanka of around Euro 350 million.
He recalled the economic reforms launched by the Government, expressing the hope that these would open the way for promising opportunities for further economic collaboration between the two countries.
Janaka Gunasekera was re-elected as the President of the Council for 2023/24. He reinforced his commitment to fostering collaboration and enhancing business relations between Sri Lanka and Italy.
