District 82: Sailing towards growth in 2023-2024 Toastmasters term

District 82 has announced its dedicated team of leaders for the 2023-2024 Toastmasters year. Toastmasters International, a global nonprofit that nurtures public speaking and leadership skills worldwide, is guided by the principle of “Where leaders are made.” Founded in 1924 and headquartered in Colorado, it has expanded to 148 countries.

Members gain confidence and achieve communication goals through speeches, impromptu talks and supportive feedback in a nurturing environment, all while enhancing their leadership skills. District 82 represents the Toastmasters community in Sri Lanka, the Maldives and the British Indian Ocean Territory.

The District Trio, consisting of District Director Mahinda Karunakara, DTM (former Registrar of the Ceylon Electricity Board); Program Quality Director Ganga Fernando, DTM (Senior Lecturer of the University of Colombo); and Club Growth Director Niroshan Nadarajah, DTM (Senior Manager of Brand Marketing at Renuka Holdings PLC), will join forces to expand the district, provide club support, deliver training and equip leaders for success.

The District Administration Manager is Lalith Manage, District Finance Manager – P. Babukumar (DTM), District Public Relations Manager – Nimnaka Perera, Immediate Past District Director – Nisal Weerakoon (DTM).

The district, divided into divisions A to K, has passionate Division Directors at the helm, nurturing club growth and development.

These leaders include Niroshan Dharmakantha(DTM), Kanapathippillai Pirabakaran(DTM), Mohamed Fawaz Jainudeen(DTM), Raveen Lankanatha, Hiranthi Ratnayake(DTM), Shehara Dissanayake(DTM), Dushyanthi Adikary(DTM), Thakshila Jayasena, Royston Cumine(DTM), Oshan Liyanage(DTM) and Methsiri Herath.
