The UNP Special Convention was held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo yesterday under the patronage of Party Leader President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The aim of the Convention was to reorganise the party under an effective plan with amendments to the party Constitution.
Many parties including professionals, mass organisations and civil organisations participated in the Special Convention. It was for the first time after his visit to China that President Wickremesinghe addressed the nation.
