South Africa’s cricketers put on yet another sparkling batting show as they hit up a whopping 399 for 7 in 50 overs and bundled out a struggling England for a paltry 170 in 22 overs to win their World Cup match by 229 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai yesterday.
England had no dog’s chance against some spirited bowling and fielding by the South Africans and the end result was a foregone conclusion from the start of the run chase that was never on.
Earlier the South African pair of Heinrich Klassen (109) and Marco Jansen (75 not out) smashed the England bowlers to every nook and corner of the field putting on 151 runs for the sixth wicket in just 12.4 overs to pave the way for their rousing total of 399 for 7.
Klaasen smashed 12 fours and four sixes posting his 109 in just 67 balls while the more aggressive of the two Jansen clobbered six sixes to add to three fours posting his 75 in just 42 balls.
