Zahira College Colombo dominated proceedings once again to retain the Championship title at the Zahira Nolimit Super Sixes Schools soccer tournament at the Race Course ground yesterday. They defeated Alethea International by a comprehensive four goals to nil in the final to retain the Cup Championship they won last year too.

The final was virtually one sided with Zahira dominating almost throughout the game. They had possession in the entire first half too but failed to score a single goal though they had a few chances of scoring and ended the half without any figures on the board.

However, the second half made Zahira once again take control of possession to score four goals. Their first goal was scored by Fareeq Ahamed from 15 metres out followed by a goal scored by Rasheed Shafwan from close range.

The other two goals were scored by Akeel Anees and skipper Mufaddal Ziard.

Zahira beat Darussalam 1-0 and Alethea beat Gateway by the same score in the semi-finals in the Cup Championship.

Gateway finished in third place after beating Darussamal 1-0 in the play-off.

St. Benedict’s won the Plate when they beat St. Joseph’s 3-1 in a penalty shootout.

The Bowl was won by Al-Hikma who beat De Mazenod 1-0 in the final.

The Zahira College team was made up of Mufaddal Zihard (captain), Rasheed Shafwan, MH Akeen, Akeel Anees, MRM Shakeeb, MSM Shahil, Fareeq Ahamed and MMA Musthaq
