Sri Lanka Cricket officials are reported to have gone into a panic situation hearing that they could lose hosting the Under-19 World Cup in January 2024 and an expected annual general meeting of the International Cricket Council in June the same year following upheavals in the country amid a possible take over by the government.

According to an official of Sri Lanka Cricket they are keeping their fingers crossed and the upcoming week is expected to be crucial in that the ICC is expected to make a ruling on the matter.

Although nothing is clear it is believed that the ICC has to decide on whether it is to deal with the elected membership of Sri Lanka Cricket or a goverment sponsored Interim Committee.

“The next few days are going to be crucial,” an SLC official said.
