India’s ITL to introduce electric tractors to Sri Lanka

India’s largest tractor exporter, International Tractors Ltd (ITL), has launched a new series of five tractors, including an all-electric range, for the global market and some these would also be launched in Sri Lanka as well.

The new tractors were launched during ITL’s ‘Global Partners Summit 200’. Over 200 international channel partners including Sri Lankan sales agents were present.

The company sells tractors under the Sonalika and Solis brands across the globe including Sri Lanka.

Executive Director, ITL,Sushant Sagar Mittal, said for the first time the all-electric range would be made available in Sri Lanka next year. “We will do some tests and customise it to match the Sri Lankan soil.”

The newly introduced tractor lineup includes the Series S, Series C, Series H, Series N, and the SV series.

The new tall electric tractor which would be the first of electric agro based vehicle would be able to complete one full day’s work with a single charge.

ITL has a manufacturing facility in Punjab, with an annual production capacity of 300,000 units and are setting up a new plant, adjacent to the existing one, with an annual production capacity of 100,000 units and it will become operational by FY26.

ITL has a strategic partnership with Japanese major Yanmar, which manufactures diesel engines and has set up a spare parts centre in Germany to European customer requirements.

Executive Director, ITL, Rahul Mittal said, “Our aim is to help farmers all across the globe to increase their productivity and make a difference in their life. We aim to achieve that through innovation.

“With the introduction of the new tractors, the company aims to strengthen its position further in the international markets,” he said.

National Sales Manager, Lanka Commercial Trading (Pvt) Ltd the local agent for Sonalika tractors said they will import the eclectic tractor next year.
