The 68th Convention of the Sri Lanka Press Association (SLPA) will be held at the BMICH, on November 1 at 3.00 pm under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The convention will serve as a platform to felicitate media veterans and launch several important initiatives for the future of journalists.
Minister of Mass Media Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, High Commissioner of India Gopal Baglay, Indian journalists, Ambassadors, media personnel and invitees will participate in the anniversary ceremony.
One of the highlights of this gathering is the establishment of funds to support the welfare of media personnel by way of providing medical needs and other assistance while the additional Writership Fund would groom budding writers with academic support.
The event also marks the opening of the new SLPA Headquarters where media personnel are able to meet and exchange views on the industry.
The keynote address will be delivered The keynote address will be by Senior Professor Sandagomi Coperahewa, a renowned lecturer at the University of Colombo.
