Lankan caregiver’s body sent back

The body of the Sri Lankan caregiver Anula Jayathilake Menike, who was killed in the Israel-Hamas conflict, was received at the Katunayake Airport yesterday morning.

Forty-nine-year-old Anula Jayathilaka had worked as a caregiver at a home in Israel for almost ten years.

Her body was brought to the Katunayake Airport’s air cargo terminal at 9.30 am yesterday from Dubai on FlyDubai flight F.Z.-547.

Anula Jayathilaka’s husband, daughter, son, relatives, Sri Lanka Foreign Employment Bureau Press Secretary Senarath Yapa, Hony. Consul of Israel to Sri Lanka, Dinesh Rodrigo were at the airport to receive the body.

Rodrigo said that there is a special fund in Israel which helped bring Anula Jayathilaka’s body back home to carry out the last rites. A part of this fund will be given to the family on behalf of the deceased.
