A cricket school is to become a reality in the north of the country called the Stallions Academy following a campaign initiated by the owners of the Jaffna Stallions team that won the first two Lanka Premier League (LPL) tournaments.
Many potential players both boys and girls have been unearthed through a talent search project spearheaded by former Sri Lanka fast bowler Chaminda Vaas and the Academy building has been constructed with modern facilities on a piece of land opposite St. John’s College in Jaffna.
The Stallions Academy will be commissioned next month after the completion of the entire set-up with former First Class coach and current Dambulla region junior Selector Ranjan Paranavithana as an Observer.
It should be recalled that the Jaffna Stallions captained by former Sri Lanka allrounder Thisara Perera won the first two editions of the LPL and now go by the name of Jaffna Kings.
