Sigiriya

Sigiriya or the Lion Rock is one of the most historical monuments in Sri Lanka. It is also a UNESCO listed World Heritage site. Sigiriya is called the eighth wonder of the world.

It is near Dambulla in the Matale district. This ancient palace and fortress complex is ofarchaeological importance and attracts thousands of tourists each year. It was the Fort of King Kashyapa.

A large rock, it was designed as a multifaceted place for the use of King Kashyapa.

Inner city, outer city, flower gardens and water gardens are the places there. Sigiriya is world famous for its frescoes and the mirror wall.

Therefore, it is everyone’s responsibility to protect this historic place.
