The new Sri Lanka Railways General Manager H.M.K.W. Bandara assumed duties in the presence of Transport, Highways and Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardena on Friday at the Railway Headquarters, Maradana.
Engineer H.M.K.W.Bandara, one of the senior officers of the Railway Department has been appointed General Manager with the approval of the Cabinet on the request by Minister Gunawardena upon the agreement reached with Railway Trade Unions for the vacancy caused by former General Manager W.A.D.S.Gunasinghe’s retirement.
Bandara was educated at Nugawela Central College and the Matale Science College and received his engineering degree from the Peradeniya University and Moratuwa University.
He joined the Sri Lanka Railways as an Assistant District Engineer in 1996 and has worked as a District Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, Chief Engineer (Roads and Industries) and Additional General Manager (Infrastructure) for a period of 27 years.
