International children’s day fell on October 1, a day dedicated to the welfare of children globally.

It is common knowledge that in Sri Lanka, many children do not have access to the luxuries that the developed countries offer to their offspring. We often see and hear via media of children in remote areas avoiding school for want of food and clothing.

The AAUPCC Council of Management at its monthly meeting on September drew attention to this aspect and decided on funding the celebration planned by Ralapanawa Janapadaya School, Nochchiyagama, NCP.

AAUPCC hosted a lunch for 270 children, and 30 staff and parents. Some members and outside well-wishers too contributed financially.

This CSR exercise turned out to be an overwhelming success and the school authorities, parents and children together expressed their gratitude to the team led by the President Priyath Cabral.
