The remarkable achievement of Tharushi Karunaratne the 19-year old Sri Lankan athlete who clinched the gold medal in the women’s 800 metres event at the 19th Asian Games held in Hangzhou, China was felicitated by Raja Jewellers.
Tharushi’s historic victory marked the first athletics gold for Sri Lanka at the Asian Games since 2002 and Raja Jewellers said it was delighted to support and recognize her exceptional talent.
They recently rewarded Karunaratne with a gift from their Twinkle Teen Collection and a cash prize for this achievement. Moreover, in acknowledgment of the integral role played by her coach Susantha Fernando, Raja Jewellers also presented him with a cash reward in appreciation.
