A tribute to Nuwan on November 18

A concert titled “Tribute to Nuwan” Will be held in remembrance of legendary singer, Nuwan Gunawardene on November 18, 2023 at the BMICH. This concert is organised by the late legend’s son, popular singer and actor Gayan Gunawardene.

It’s been almost one year since the golden voice of Nuwan Gunawardene was stilled as he passed away on December 8, 2022.

Nuwan and Gayan appeared together for the first time on December 9, 2018 at a concert held at the National Youth Centre auditorium, Maharagama. The concert was titled ‘Thatthai Puthai’ and Nuwan’s daughter Dulari too joined her father and brother.

The show was an instant hit and was followed by a second concert in Anuradhapura. Unfortunately, future shows could not be held due to the passing of the legendary singer.

However, at the memorial concert Gayan intends to showcase his father’s talents not only as a singer but also as a composer and the unique person he was.

Appearing on stage with Gayan and Dulari will be Sajitha Anthony, Gayan Udawatte, Kavindya Adhikari,Piyath Rajapaksha, Kusal Madhuranga Sachin Chathuranga,Induwara Sooriyabandara and Dimithri Rajasingha. Backed by “Rawd” the band formed by Gayan Gunawardene himself.

The concert will be compered by Dhananjaya Siriwardene.
