Royal beat Thomians, advance to semi-final

Royal College beat S. Thomas’ College by two wickets in the quarter-final of the under-19 division one schools limited overs cricket tournament encounter played at Bambalapitiya yesterday.

The match was reduced to 47 overs due to a wet outfield. Thomas’ elected to bat first and scored 142 for eight wickets in 47 overs as Akash Fernando top scored with an unbeaten 65 with four boundaries and five sixes.

Anush Polonnovita plucked three wickets for four runs for Royal in curtailing the Thomians.

In reply Royal scored 145 for eight wickets in 40.5 overs with Polonnovita into the action scoring a brisk unbeaten 57.
