As Sri Lanka diligently charts its future course with crucial strategies, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) in its standing as the National Body of Accountants, organised its Annual Budget Seminar which featured an insightful panel of experts on Tuesday to examine and navigate the complexities of the National Budget for 2024, which serves as the Government’s blueprint for economic recovery.
The session brought together a lineup of experts including corporate leaders and analysts, who shed light on the path forward in the post-economic crisis era following the presentation of the National Budget in Parliament on Monday.
Vice President of CA Sri Lanka, Heshana Kuruppu, Chairman of the Faculty of Taxation, Tishan Subasinghe and Members of Council and acting CEO Ms. Lakmali Priyangika were also present.
Managing Partner, Ranaweera Associates, Athula Ranaweera and Partner, Tax Services, BDO Partners, Ms. Sarah Afker presented the highlights of the National Budget for 2024.
The highlights were followed by a panel discussion which ensured an exchange of ideas and provided a cohesive narrative featuring, Tax Policy Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Ms. Thanuja Perera, Acting Commissioner General, Department of Inland Revenue, Upul Jayawardhana, Executive Director, Verité Research, Dr. Nishan De Mel, CEO, Standard Chartered Bank, Bingumal Thewarathanthri, Chief Strategist, Capital Alliance, Udeeshan Jonas and Managing Director, Brandix Group, Hasitha Premaratne. The session was moderated by Heshana Kuruppu.
