Former Sports Minister Harin Fernando sees the importance of a million high spending foreign tourists in the sunniest time of the year more than a clean up of a corruption stained cricket administration.

He joined the isolated voice of rebuking one of his successors incumbent Sports Minister Roshan Ranasinghe as being responsible for the international ban on cricket that could deprive the country of summer dollars from a Youth Word Cup scheduled for January 2024 in Sri Lanka.

“The ICC ban on Sri Lanka makes us lose hosting the under 19 World Cup and with it the chance to welcome 800 thousand foreign tourists”, said Fernando now the Minister of Tourism.
