Avinya Academy in Bandaragama has concluded the showcase event, which highlighted the achievements of the second batch of students participating in its Empower-Program. Following the program’s launch on September 4, 2023, the second batch of students has completed a significant component of a transformative journey, engaging in acquiring essential 21st-century skills.

The event featured presentations, displays and interactive sessions, for students to demonstrate the skills and knowledge they have acquired throughout the program via a unique gallery walk showcase. Parents, guests and fellow students took advantage of the occasion to inquire and gain a more profound understanding of the students’ learning, nurturing enhanced communication.

The projects completed by students span a diverse array of skills, strategically designed to enhance core employability competencies.

My Digital Passport: A comprehensive exploration of the digital realm, revealing students’ prowess in digital literacy and their adept understanding of responsible online citizenship.

Face Your Face: A transformative initiative promoting self-expression and identity discovery through the artistic creation of masks, fostering creativity and communication skills.

Golden Rubbish: An environmentally conscious project exemplifying the significance of upcycling and sustainable practices, instilling in students a sense of environmental responsibility and innovation.

Project Runway: A dynamic fashion and design venture, spotlighting students’ creativity and cultivating a sense of professionalism and etiquette in the realm of fashion, contributing to their overall employability skills.

Head of the Empower Program Dinesha Senaratne said, “The showcase is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students. It’s not just about completing projects; it’s about demonstrating the real-world application of the 21st-century skills they’ve developed during the Empower Program.”

As Avinya Academy focuses not only on academic excellence but also on nurturing well-rounded persons, the showcase event aims to raise parental awareness about the importance of 21st-century skills in shaping their children’s future. Parents had the opportunity to witness firsthand the growth and development of their children, gaining insights into the skills that are crucial for success in today’s competitive job market.
