Air Force boxers won six gold, two silver and six bronze medals demonstrating exceptional prowess at the Clifford Cup meet held from November 13 to 17 at the Royal MAS arena in Colombo.
The Air Force boxers outsmarted pugilists from the Army, Navy and Police teams as well as well established boxing clubs in the country to pocket the women’s segment of the Clifford Cup for the first time.
The Clifford Cup is a renowned event and the second-highest ranked Championship held annually in Sri Lanka providing an opportunity for boxers who have excelled in the Novices and Intermediate Championships to compete at this prestigious meet.
The championship marked a historic moment as the Air Force women’s boxing team secured the Clifford Cup Boxing title for the first time with Leading Aircraftwoman KKIT Perera as the Most Scientific Women’s Best Boxer.
