Sri Lanka Athletics will conduct trials today (26) to select men and women’s teams to participate in three international marathon races to be held next year.
The three international marathon races will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam, Asian Marathon in Hong Kong and the Bangabandhu Marathon in Bangladesh.
The trials will be held over 30 kilometres and the entry fee will be Rs. 500 per competitor. Ragistration will be held at 5 a.m. and men and women above the age of 18 years can enter. The race will begin at 6 a.m.
The race route has been changed due to bad weather and follows as: Start at Diyatha Uyana Polduwa Roundabout, Rajagiriya, Ayurveda Roundabout, Castle Street, Bullers Road, turn left at Kanatta Roundabout, Narahenpita, Kirulapone, Nugegoda, Maharagama, Pannipitiya, 174 bus rout, Thalawathugoda, back to Diyatha Uyana, Polduwa Roundabout, Rajagiriya, Ayurveda Roundabout, Castle Street, Bullers Road, turn right at the cemetery roundabout and end at BMICH.
Before the competition a competitor must furnish a medical certificate regarding physical fitness obtained from a recognized government doctor or a private doctor within seven days and handed over to the organizers before the start of the competition.
In case of a school student, a letter approved by the principal of the school should be submitted.
If any competitor consumes a personally prepared energy drink, he/she must notify the competition organizers in advance. A copy of the name and national identity card of the relevant energy drink provider should be handed over to the organisers.
This race will be conducted under World Athletics Rules.
