President Ranil Wickremesinghe has instructed to commence the scholarship program under the President’s Fund for students studying in the G.C.E. Advanced level classes, based on the results of the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
This program was started from December 1 under the guidance of the President’s Secretary Saman Ekanayake.
Fifty students will be selected from each zone to cover all 100 education zones of the island and 5,000 students will be given scholarships of Rs.6,000 per month.
Last year too, the President’s Fund provided scholarships for 24 months to 3,000 students.
In 2022 (2023) students who sat for the G. C.E. Ordinary Level Examination for the first time and having passed the examination and qualifying for the G.C.E. Advanced level in a Government or private school that does not charge fees, and the monthly income of the applicant’s family is less than Rs. 100,000 is considered as the basic eligibility to apply for these scholarships.

After completing the applications, the students should hand over the applications to the principal of the school where they sat for the G.C.E. Ordinary Level Examination.
