The praiseworthy performance of Virtusa during the Aragalaya (youth struggle) time has given a huge confidence to its international buyers and this has led a to huge increase in the volume of business to the company, said Business Head (APAC) and Country Head (Sri Lanka), Naresha Supramaniam.
“During the Aragalaya as well as the economic crisis that followed we received many calls from our international buyers on a daily basis inquiring from us if their work given to Sri Lanka could be completed on time.
“Due to the efficiency of our responsible staff we did not delay on a single assignment that was given to us and due to our sound track record that was maintained during ‘bad’ times, Sri Lanka operations are today held in high esteem.”
Due to this we are now surging with new assignments and to cope up with them we will be doubling our staff strength from next year.
“In the past month alone, we’ve seen a large number of new opportunities being allocated to Sri Lanka, showcasing our confidence in the local talent to shine on the global stage,” he said. “Hence for us Aragalaya’ became a somewhat plus point to as it helped to give more confidence of our operations to international partners.”
Asked about the brain drain he said that this too is not a major concern for them. “People who migrate from us first look at joining a sister company in many parts of the world.”
He also said that due to good working conditions and other gainful financial factors most youth tend to stay with Virtusa in Sri Lanka. However we are looking at the future of brain drain with mixed feelings but most of them are not negative.”
The company’s Chief Marketing Officer and a member of the Global CXO, Brian Jochum, said that the COVID pandemic had given a new life to work from home concept and today it has been more broad based and given many plus points for both employee and employer.
Jochum also discussed Virtusa’s approach to engineering excellence and its impact on stakeholders. Jochum’s insights offered a deeper understanding of the company’s strategic positioning and its commitment to delivering high-value solutions.
Following his visit to India, he also visited the Virtusa offices in Sri Lanka, met with the local leadership.
