The Bank of Ceylon (BOC) has formulated a series of seminars in collaboration with the Industrial Development Board (IDB) to help local SMEs reach global markets.

The launch took place under the patronage of the Bank’s Chairman Ronald C. Perera and the General Manager Russel Fonseka.

The project is jointly spearheaded by the DGM Corporate and Offshore Division G.A. Jayashantha and DGM Development Banking and Branch Credit Operations Range 2 Mrs. Rochell Fernando. Members of the bank’s Corporate and Executive Management and officials of IDB were also present.

The first program of the series was held at the Bank’s Head Office Auditorium, organised by the BOC Metropolitan branch. The seminar covered topics such as marketing, branding, strategies to reach global market opportunities and possible risks related to MSMEs.

Resource persons from BOC and IDB provided their insights to the entrepreneurs and advised them on resolving some of the practical difficulties in operation.

BOC has set up an entrepreneur development hub through SME-Circle and Export-Circle as a part of this initiative and hopes to outspread the benefit to many entrepreneurs as possible.
